3 1/2 Time-Outs Tuesday (Vol. IX) -Valentine's Day Edition

Just like 7 Quick-Takes Friday at Conversion Diary, except it's half as long and twice as good.

1.
My wife and I are both sick, and we have been conquered by a 2yr old and 2mos old. Seriously. We fell so quickly. What do we have? Well, we believe that we caught the Spanish Flu from watching Downton Abbey. Crazy,  I know, but it is the best answer, and most creative - we went for style points.

2.
I know I haven't done a lot of "quality" posting lately. Been in a sort of funk. Everyone seems to be running "Church Militanty" posts lately, so I have been edged out of the market by some bigger and more well known blogs. I guess I have to reassert my position. The worst is I had an idea for some cool "items" to make, except a certain famous priest blogger decided to do them first. His are... OK, mine was going to be a lot better. Oh well. God sent me here to blog, not to make coffee mugs... right?

3.
Today is Anniversary #3 for the wife and I. Yeah, I know - coolest wife ever right? Get married on Valentine's Day and move to Alaska. Yes she has a sister, but she is married. Sorry single guys.

3 1/2.
Thinking about the Wordpress thing. Problem: I don't understand Wordpress.com. I have a Wordpress.Org blog I set up a long time ago, but the free version is tough to make all nice and Blogger like. Blogger is so easy, and I want a pretty looking blog... it is so frustrating. Anyone want to set me up and do it for me? K thanks, awesome!

Thanks Larry, you will always be mine.
What?

Happy Anniversary, Joe. Keep up the good work in helping your wife to sainthood!

Having migrated to Wordpress from Blogger, there are pluses and minuses to each platform. WP has better moderation filters for commenting, Blogger has more flexibility. I've been happy with the move thus far.

Happy Anniversary! Sorry you and the wife are sick, hope you both feel better soon.

I really like Wordpress, but I never had blogger so I can't really compare the two.

Oh, and happy Valentine's Day to you and your lovely wife!

Joseph K., I've used both WP and Blogger. With WP the trick is to find a "theme" (WP term) that does the most important stuff you need, and then customize it in a way that takes advantages of the look and feel of that theme, but sidesteps any weaknesses.

I've found on the last couple blogs I put together that it took several goes and a lot of tweaking to get a satisfactory look. Depends on how demanding your needs are, and on luck.

There will still be compromises. Get what you pay for, ya know?
