We don't have a TV. Don't freak out! We live in Alaska, this is fairly common, especially amongst our friends. Yes, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Super Bowl, and Downton Abbey are harder to watch this way, but we figure it out. That being said, the lack of a physical TV makes entertaining our 2yo a little tough sometimes. I know that people did it for thousands of years, but occasionally a good video is a good 20min window when Mom can get some cooking or "work from home" done. Our child though doesn't like Cartoons, so finding appropriate things for her to watch online, for free was hard.
Then, while at Wal-Mart we found the following for $9.99:

We went to a Dog Sled race this weekend. Well, the start anyways. We went to the Iditarod start a few years ago and that was super fun. We hope to go back this year if we can make it work. Well, at the local race, which is a warm-up for the Iditarod, there were about 30 racers, and they have a staggered start. So it is a lot of excitement for about a half-hour, and then it is over.
We drove there, and when we arrived the local temp was -20°F. This isn't bad for my wife or I, or even the 2yo. The 2mos. old though? Too Much. When your boogers freeze and you still dont really get the "breathe through your mouth" thing, it makes life hard. Needless to say, I sat in the car with the boy, while Mom and our daughter The Valiant One went and watched the "doggies." I got to see the excitement from the vehicle, and all were pleased.

I walked approx. 5miles yesterday, in snowshoes, in 23" of snow, in 8°F weather, all while pulling a sled carrying 100+ lbs. of gear.
Needless to say, I hurt today.
A lot. Where did my youth go?

How do "Mommy Bloggers" do it? Their blogs are fancy. They write lots of post, all of which are funny and witty. They have Blog Round Ups, Post Link Ups, etc... They are active on Facebook, Twitter, Blog Com Boxes, Pinterest, etc... all while raising and homeschooling 7 children.
I on the other hand, can barely get this post out and I only have 2 children.
Do I need to start drinking Red Bull again?
Thanks Larry, sort of...

What a FANTASTIC IDEA re: musicals! I'm going to look for something like that. We do not have a TV hooked up to cable, so the kids can get DVDs from the library or occasionally watch Netflix on the computer. Alex and I just enjoyed "The Sound of Music" the other night and I'm determined to plop them in front of it soon. As much as I have wished in the past to valiantly forego such forms of entertainment, our whole family rather appreciates the time the kids (and grown ups) can occasionally spend in front of the screen. It's not too often, but it sure helps a little.
Yup, no TV here, either. My 14 year old snorted milk at the top pic. Thought you sholuld know that. My 2 year old is standing at my knee here, saying "Yucky poo" ; must go.
Hey Joe - don't forget to link this back to AoftheA!
